From 1987 to 1997 (up until the completion of 'Still Yearning'), I recorded a number of tracks which have remained on cassette tape gathering dust. Some of these tracks were recorded when my equipment list comprised of a portable stereo tape recorder (with a dubbing facility), short-wave radio, and a CD player. Most, if not all of the tracks, will probably be only of interest to me, but I live in hope!
When trying to write a song, I often start with a basic rhythm or melody, and then build on that to complete the song. Some of the tracks on this CD are passages which were never used. I have included them here (in greatly shortened form to minimise the boredom factor!), as they work well, for a couple of minutes at least. Other, later tracks, are complete songs which for various reasons, did not fit the mood of the 'Still Yearning' CD. This CD finishes with the original, shorter version of 'Still Yearning'. A very different mix, and no guitar.

The first track, 'Random Patterns', was edited from an improvised piece with Andy MacDonald on guitar. I used Soundforge to clean-up the original tapes, but pops, clicks and crackles abound. Just close your eyes and remember the days of vinyl!
